A special event supporting the Cancer Assistance Program (CAP)
This year’s concert will be held at the Hamilton Place Great Hall on October 20th, 2013. Doors open at 5:00pm and the show starts at 6:00pm. The event runs for about 2 hours. This is the second annual concert in support of the Cancer Assistance Program of Hamilton – assisting with programs for people here in the community currently undergoing cancer treatment. The Hamilton Benefit Concert is an annual event supporting the Cancer Assistance Program of Hamilton. We bring out some great local talent to put on a big show helping out people currently undergoing cancer treatment here in our local community.
The second annual show is at Hamilton Place’s Great Hall on October 20, 2013. We’re bringing out Ian Thomas for the second year in a row afterhaving a wonderful time with him last year.
Ian Thomas is a Juno award winning artist from Hamilton. He had his first international hit in 1973 with Painted Ladies. Many of his greatest hits have been covered by other artists, including Right Before Your Eyes (America, 1983) and Hold On (Santana, 1982). Ian Thomas is still making music, releasing his most recent album Little Dreams in 2012.
Ryan Van Sickle is this year’s opening act. Ryan was born and raised in Dundas. Now living in New York, Ryan frequently returns home to perform.Following in the steps of the masters from his native Canada, Ryan draws on the influences of Neil Young, Daniel Lanois, and Leonard Cohen alongside American greats Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger and Lucinda Williams. With the release of his latest album Ghosts Of The Brokenhearted, Ryan emerges as a powerful singer/songwriter.
Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) is an organization providing assistance to cancer patientsin the Hamilton area. In their 20 year history they have helped thousands of people undergoing cancer treatment here in the community. Programs include equipment loans and transportation to clinic and medical appointments at no charge. CAP relies on the support of the community to keep these programs available to those in need.
