About the Hamilton Benefit Concert 2013

The Hamilton Benefit Concert is an annual event supporting the Cancer Assistance Program of Hamilton. We bring out some great local talent to put on a big show helping out people currently undergoing cancer treatment here in our local community.

The second annual show is at Hamilton Place’s Great Hall on October 20, 2013. We’re bringing out Ian Thomas for the second year in a row afterhaving a wonderful time with him last year.

Ian Thomas is a Juno award winning artist from Hamilton. He had his first international hit in 1973 with Painted Ladies. Many of his greatest hits have been covered by other artists, including Right Before Your Eyes (America, 1983) and Hold On (Santana, 1982). Ian Thomas is still making music, releasing his most recent album Little Dreams in 2012.

Ryan Van Sickle is this year’s opening act. Ryan was born and raised in Dundas. Now living in New York, Ryan frequently returns home to perform.Following in the steps of the masters from his native Canada, Ryan draws on the influences of Neil Young, Daniel Lanois, and Leonard Cohen alongside American greats Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger and Lucinda Williams. With the release of his latest album Ghosts Of The Brokenhearted, Ryan emerges as a powerful singer/songwriter.
