Dutch band Aestrid will release their latest album “No Map or Address”
that was recorded by Glen Marshall & Bob Lanois at the Brantford Arts Block studio in Brantford last March. Now 6 months later they’re back to present their new album. It will be magic, loud and a trip filled with suspense. A unique sound that will tell and show you where they’re from and the places where they go. Founder, vocalist and guitarist of the band, Bo Menning say: “Somehow all these places where we go end up in our songs, like little snapshots. Our cameras never stop clicking and the shows are like the big outlet of all those photos…”
Fri Sept 5 BEAUTIFUL NOTHING with STILL LIFE/ LEE BABY SIMS/THE MERCY BEAT
This Ain’t Hollywood presents BEAUTIFUL NOTHING with STILL LIFE / THE MERCY BEAT
In early 2013, Still Life added Graham King into the mix as their new bass player. With King acting as a fresh mind in the writing process, the group continued to collaborate with much forward momentum. In April of 2013, Still Life went back to Newcomb Studios to begin work on their new full-length album, “Lost in Orbit.” This album marks the band at their most developed point yet, with no signs of slowing down. Lost in Orbit is now available on iTunes, Bandcamp, and many more.
As of the winter of 2014 Still Life mutually parted ways with Graham King and introduced Clinton Thorkildsen to the band to take over bass permanently. Still Life, now more glued than ever, continues to write and work towards newer and better music.
LEE BABY SIMS
THE MERCY BEAT
After years of experimenting with different band members, sounds, and genres, Honey and Somerville are finally debuting the new Mercy Beat. They’ve come back as a brand new band, with all new messages and sounds.
“What you’ve heard on the Internet is not what you’re going to hear now. It’s heavier and pop-ier. It’s simple. Keep it simple, keep it rockin’. We keep to a steady beat with a blues element. We have rock and pop songs mixed together. We’re a band that covers a lot of genres of music.”
The Mercy Beat is expecting to release their new album as a two-piece band as early as July. The album consists of original songs that relate to feelings and situations that happen in everyday life.
“A lot of pain and joy goes into the writing of our music. We’re trying to portray modern-day experiences that anyone can relate too. We talk about everything from space, to elements, to love and hate,” Honey explains.
“We’re just ourselves. What comes out is a product of our life experiences,” said Honey.
“We’re huge fans of music. We’ve paid our dues, we’ve learned a lot, and we’re stronger than ever.”

It would be no understatement to say Ikebe Shakedown is the ultimate sum of its parts ensemble. Over the past four years the band has firmly established itself within the NYC music scene while its individual members have accrued a formidable laundry list of renowned acts they have toured or recorded with. Dan Auerbach, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Streetlight Manifesto, Orgone, Lee Fields, Pimps of Joytime, Monophonics, Toubab Krewe, Amadou & Mariam, and Wu-Tang just to name a few have all called on members of Ikebe Shakedown for various needs. The band’s first full length album, recorded at Killion Sound in LA and Dunham Studios in Brooklyn, was released 2011 on Ubiquity Records (Orgone, Monophonics, etc) and received strong independent radio play throughout the US and Europe and substantial support from the international DJ community. Their next album with Ubiquity, recorded at Daptone Records’ Studios in Brooklyn, is set to be released in April 2014.

“Hard Steppin’…is…the perfect soundtrack for the unwritten Tarantino movie of your imagination, and should be listened to while driving fast, preferably towards danger.” – WNYC
