Thursday BIBLICAL plus CELLPHONE & NOT OF
Bio : Formed in Toronto, Canada during the spring of 2010, BIBLICAL is the sound of mountains splitting and oceans parting.
Their fierce live show has earned festival and touring slots with top artists such as KYUSS, DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979, THE SWORD, RED FANG, TORCHE, THE NIGHT MARCHERS, FUCKED UP and HOWLIN’ RAIN.
In 2011 they released a self-titled EP that delighted rock fans with a blast of tense garage metal steeped in minor-key twang and sludgy organ-soaked breakdowns. POP MATTERS called the release “a grand debut” while stoner aficionados THE OBELISK praised the band’s sound, noting “BIBLICAL‘s swagger is definitely their own.”
But that was just preview of the epic jams to come. In March 2014, NEW DAMAGE RECORDS released BIBLICAL’s debut LP: MONSOON SEASON. Lauded by PITCHFORK as a “climactic, Red Sea-parting surge of narcotic guitar” MONSOON SEASON is a thunderous opus of haunted psychedelia. While punishingly heavy, the album is cloaked in texture and dynamics, casting aside the tropes of hard rock in favour of atmosphere, tension and palpable dread.

Friday GILLIAN NICOLA (Record Release Party)
FRIDAY APRIL 15TH, 2016 // 9:30PM
THIS AIN’T HOLLYWOOD, HAMILTON
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS BEN SOMER & WILD RIVERS
Gillian Nicola’s 2016 EP “No Place to Call” will have its official release at Hamilton’s This Ain’t Hollywood on Friday April 15, 2016.
In late 2015, Nicola headed into Hamilton’s Catherine North Studios to work with producer Dan Hosh (Whitehorse, City & Colour, Rose Cousins) on her sophomore EP, No Place to Call (spring 2016). Mastered by Elliott Brood’s Stephen Pitkin, the five-song EP is a move to a sound that Nicola feels fully defines her as an artist.
“Across the five new offerings, Nicola delivers warm, familiar, folksy Canadiana — but her powerhouse vocals make for a listening experiencethat’s entirely refreshing.” – Exclaim!
Ben Somer is a gifted songwriter with a knack for storytelling. His works are painstakingly candid snap-shots of the day-to-day which bring to mind the great songwriters of a bygone era. Armed with a razor-sharp wit and a gift for brevity, Somer crafts beautifully compelling songs that are as heartbreaking as they are tongue-in-cheek.
Wild Rivers is an indie-folk band based in Toronto, Ontario. Wild Rivers was born out of Devan & Khalid, the duo that has experienced much success since they first met in Kingston in 2012.
