The Medicine Hat / Hamilton
The Medicine Hat is an experimental-pop band from Hamilton, Ontario.
Frontwoman Nabi Sue Bersche’s nimble, raw lyricism is illuminated by a voice like holy fire: blistering and purifying. Focussed guitar work dances with the hypnotic timbres and soaring melodies of analog synthesizers. Deft lines and dangerous grooves are intoned by a disciplined drum & bass combo. Chaos lurks beneath the surface of The Medicine Hat’s tight motifs and rhythmic trances, erupting into moments of prophetic ecstasy. Their live performances are wild affairs. Brimstone at their heels, The Medicine Hat’s contagious energy turns rooms into reveries.
Lost Cousins / Toronto
Family isn’t always bound by blood. In the case of Lost Cousins it is bound through the kindred connection found in their unique blend of psychedelic soul rock. Coming together as students in Kingston, ON, Dylan Cantlon Hay, Cam Duffin, Lloyd McArton and Thomas Dashney had humble beginnings at house concerts and basement performances, where they became known for their intensely energetic live shows and memorable songwriting.
The Kents / Lindsay
The Kents are an emerging force from Lindsay, Ontario that call on anthemic intimacy.
Formed in 2014, The Kents is comprised of Warren Frank (vocals), Freddy Kwon (guitar), Luke Shauf (bass) and Tanner Paré (drums).
Waking EP, produced by Derek Hoffman (The Elwins, DCF) at Fox Sounds in Toronto with mastering from Dan Weston (Shad, City And Colour), encapsulates lyrical explorations of family, loss and separation from the comfort of adolescence with a hook-hungry, pop filter that controls the chaos.
