From the ashes of Poorage, Human Nun was freshly birthed – similar streams of shifty weirdness were quickly demon-strated.

Manny Manteau aka Randy Gagne was beckoned by the 3 ex members of Poorage to saddle up behind the bash machine! Drew Taylor plays his guitar (with self destruct strum triggered strings it seems) and spews some vocal chunks into a microphone, Danielle Ouimet picks up a guitar and yells like a lovely banshee, and Beth de Jong picks up her bass guitar (by the neck) and told the microphone where to go not so nicely. They morphed into some kind of mighty strange, improvised no wave/ noise/ punk creature of shoulder vibration delight.

For over 4 months a group of Stoney Creek Towers tenants have been withholding rent, from their greedy dirtbag landlords (CLV/InterRent), in collective protest of an unaffordable Above Guideline Increase (AGI) in their rent (9.6% over 2yrs), and a lack of repairs to their units. The tenants are all working class folks.. folks on low and fixed incomes, gov’t assistance, seniors, immigrants, young families, etc. For them, a 10% increase in rent is dire. For many it means needing to move, in a housing market with NOTHING in their price range; for others it means choosing between rent and food, or rent and proper care for their families. The Rent Strike is tenants fighting back. Organized and determined. In a fight for their homes.. a fight to remain in their communities, with their friends, doctors, schools, shops, etc. A fight for respect, and for the dignity of working class Hamilton. And with CLV forcing tenants to the Landlord Tenant Board (LTB).. that fight is fucking expensive.

In celebration of the summer of Rent Strike.. in support of working class Hamilton folks standing up to a billion dollar Real Estate Investment giant.. and in the spirit of ’46.. come get loud, rowdy rawkus with us.. and raise some beers, cheers and dollars for the rent striking tenants of the Stoney Creek Towers (and their growing shit stack of LTB notices and fling fees).

This Ain’t Hollywood July 21st – SVEN GALI 25th Anniversary Ontario Tour @thesainttweets

Image may contain: one or more people and people on stage

Formed in 1987 in Hamilton and Niagara Falls, Ontario, SVEN GALI brought the 80’s and 90’s hard rock/metal wave home to Canada. They delivered their high-energy live show from St. Johns to Victoria, and across the USA and Europe for the next 9 years.

Twenty-five years after their self-titled debut album went Gold (50,000 units) in Canada, they are back with a monster new song called “Kill The Lies” recorded with legendary producer David Bendeth (Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, Bring Me The Horizon). Released on June 10th, 2018 the new track is no throwback to the 90’s, but a heavy, modern rock song that doesn’t look back. A part of the proceeds from the sale of the single will go to support cancer research in the name of founding guitar player Dee Cernile. Dee passed away from cancer in 2012.

**********************
INCREDIBLE WOMAN
**********************

“Derm Kean and An Incredible Woman are a four piece rock band hailing from Canadian cultural hub, St. John’s, Newfoundland. Start to finish, their debut record ‘Incredible’ is unstoppable. The band wastes no time drenching its audience in squealing guitars, ripping bass, bombastic drums and a tasteful dash of synthesizer. Derm’s vocal prowess may take one of many forms, from fluent hometown punk, to dynamic and harmonically tiered ballads.

Incredible Woman waste no time. The band is currently working on their sophomore record at Electrical Audio with renowned sound engineer Steve Albini. A release date and title has yet to be determined, so stay tuned.”

Bandcamp: https://incrediblewoman.bandcamp.com/

**************
DEAD FIBRES
**************

“A megalomaniac gorges himself on a number of toxic substances and stumbles into another consecutive night of dehydrated, tooth-grinding madness. The soundtrack to his evening: Dead Fibres’ forthcoming release “Disgusting People with Disgusting Motives”. The album is a brash, self-destructive and introspective piece that is at all times loud and chaotic. With this release the band sought to create an album that was consistent not only sonically, but also thematically. “Disgusting People with Disgusting Motives” deals with the baser elements of humanity that are driven by vice and lust, those of which that can be found by making a trip over to the wrong end of town. It is a filthy and grimey exposé of these elements as well as a passé cry for help. “Disgusting People with Disgusting Motives” is not to be missed if you’re looking to revel in the nastier side of life. Just be weary of the hangover that is sure to follow.

Dead Fibres were begotten within the booze-flooded months (and years) of directionless anxiety following the conclusion of high school and out of this monotonous milieu they have managed to birth a distinctive blend of grunge, punk and psychedelia that is both aggressive and rhythmically driven. In late 2014 Dead Fibres dropped their self-titled debut, which was backed up with a Canada-wide tour in 2015. This summer will witness the second Dead Fibres’ Canadian Tour wherein the band will attack an expanded number of cities, bringing with them an updated sound and vision.”

HUMAN NUN
**************

Out of the ashes of Poorage… up rises HUMAN NUN.
Lovable Hamilton musical maniacs and members of Poorage, Sensei, Get Off The Cop, Man Made Hill.
Stay tuned.

*******************
THE BEACH BATS
*******************

“The Beach Bats are two parts rock n’ roll, a weak shot of jazz fusion, fill the rest with punk rock and cheap margarita mix. Rim with rockabilly residue and garnish with fresh lime. Pairs best with forever vacations, bonfires on the shore, and nights out at the pool hall. Moon Mutt and Goth Bikini pilot this pleasure craft along with whatever delinquents seem to be hanging around on the beach that particular afternoon. Influences range from Reverend Horton Heat to Black Sabbath, Les Baxter to FEAR. Music that will put you in poor health and add years to your complexion like that sizzlin’ Florida sun.”

Dan Baird is a singer-songwriter, musician and producer best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist from the chart-topping rock band The Georgia Satellites. Baird formed The Georgia Satellites and the self-titled debut Georgia Satellites was their most successful release featuring the track “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went into heavy rotation on MTV.
Baird left the band to pursue a solo career and released Love Songs for the Hearing Impaired. The first single “I Love You Period”, charted and peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100. A follow up single “The One I Am” charted and peaked at #13 on Billboard’s “Album Rock Tracks” chart.

In 2005, Baird began touring and recording with his band, Homemade Sin which today features two ex-members of The Georgia Satellites, Baird and drummer Mauro Magellan, along with bassist and guitarist Warner E. Hodges (of Jason & the Scorchers). Known for their blazing high-energy live shows, Homemade Sin performs a mixture of Baird’s solo material in addition to the hits and fan favorites from his years with the Georgia Satellites. The band has built a solid name and touring history across the UK and Europe. The band released a new album in 2017 so gearing up for a great year of international touring including North America for select tour dates in 2018.

This banger will be featuring some very specials guests:

Corridor
Montreal’s CORRIDOR take familiar elements but assemble and scramble them in a way you may not have heard before. There’s a twin-guitar interplay that recalls the late-’70s mutant new wave of XTC, The dB’s and The Feelies, with a sense of melody that shows a love of ‘60s psychedelia and sunshine pop. Putting a hometown twist on things, CORRIDOR sing entirely en français. Don’t let that put you off though: the creativity and abundance of killer tunes found on their acid-baked 2017 album Supermercado breaks through the language barrier. CORRIDOR are even better live, with a real joie de rock that knows no borders — guitars slash, harmonies soar, bodies a constant blur.

“In 2014, after 10 years of touring the world (literally every continent but Antarctica!) in Atlanta’s legendary Black Lips as well as the critically-acclaimed Diamond Rugs, guitarist and vocalist Ian Saint Pé needed a change. As he put it, “The only thing you can’t change is time, So it was time that changed me. I loved the Black Lips, but I needed to enjoy new environments. So I got a brand new bag: Saint Pé.“

With his first record finally in that brand new bag and new songs already on the way, Saint Pé plans to spend the foreseeable future back on the road with this latest project, bringing his new sounds to plenty of familiar faces.” – http://saintpeband.com/
